Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost
September 14, 2025
Welcome & Announcements
* Call to Worship... Psalm 66:1-5
Leader: Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
* Hymn of Praise #6... “O Come, My Soul, Bless Thou the Lord”
* Prayer of Adoration
* Affirmation of Our Faith……..……The Canons of Dort, Points 3 & 4, Article 15
Leader: Christian, what do you believe of responses to God’s grace?
All: God does not owe this grace to anyone. For what could God owe to those who have nothing to give that can be paid back?1 Indeed, what could God owe to those who have nothing of their own to give but sin and falsehood? Therefore those who receive this grace owe and give eternal thanks to God alone; those who do not receive it either do not care at all about these spiritual things and are satisfied with themselves in their condition, or else in self-assurance foolishly boast about having something which they lack.2 Furthermore, following the example of the apostles, we are to think and to speak in the most favorable way about those who outwardly profess their faith and better their lives, for the inner chambers of the heart are unknown to us.3 But for others who have not yet been called, we are to pray to the God who calls things that do not exist as though they did.4 In no way, however, are we to pride ourselves as better than they, as though we had distinguished ourselves from them.5
Hymn of Trust #349... “O Thou Who the Shepherd of Israel Art”
Call to Confession... Proverbs 1:23
Leader: If you turn at my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.
Corporate Prayer of Confession... Psalm 51:1-2
All: Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
Silent Prayers of Confession
* Assurance of God’s Grace... Hebrews 4:3, 10-11
Leader: For we who have believed enter that rest … for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.

* Benediction
Following the benediction, let us greet and welcome one another as Christ has welcomed us, for the glory of God (Romans 15:7), remembering what our Lord teaches us in the Scriptures: “Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God” (1 Peter 1:22–23)
