Ninth Sunday after Pentecost
August 3, 2025
Welcome & Announcements
* Call to Worship... Psalm 95:1-3
Leader: Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
* Hymn of Praise #165... “Ye Servants of God, Your Master Proclaim”
* Prayer of Adoration
* Affirmation of Our Faith……..………The Canons of Dort, Points 3 & 4, Article 9
Leader: Christian, what do you believe of human responsibility for rejecting the gospel?
All: The fact that many who are called through the ministry of the gospel do not come and are not brought to conversion must not be blamed on the gospel, nor on Christ, who is offered through the gospel, nor on God, who calls them through the gospel and even bestows various gifts on them, but on the people themselves who are called.1 Some in self-assurance do not even entertain the Word of life; others do entertain it but do not take it to heart, and for that reason, after the fleeting joy of a temporary faith, they relapse; others choke the seed of the Word with the thorns of life’s cares and with the pleasures of the world and bring forth no fruits. This our Savior teaches in the parable of the sower.2
Hymn of Trust #644... “May the Mind of Christ My Savior”
Call to Confession... Proverbs 13:5-6
Leader: The righteous hates falsehood, but the wicked brings shame and disgrace. Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, but sin overthrows the wicked.
Corporate Prayer of Confession... Psalm 79:8-9
All: Do not remember against us our former iniquities; let your compassion come speedily to meet us, for we are brought very low. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and atone for our sins, for your name’s sake!
Silent Prayers of Confession
* Assurance of God’s Grace... Romans 8:31-32
Leader: What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
* Congregational Response #432... “We Give Thee But Thine Own”
Sharing of Praises and Petitions

Following the benediction, let us greet and welcome one another as Christ has welcomed us, for the glory of God (Romans 15:7), remembering what our Lord teaches us in the Scriptures: “Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God” (1 Peter 1:22–23)
