Third Sunday after the Resurrection
April 26, 2026
Welcome & Announcements
Today we welcome into membership Shelley Brown, and Austen and Madalynn Jenkins.
* Call to Worship............................................. Psalm 148:1-4
Leader: Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!
* Hymn of Praise #17. “Praise the Lord: Ye Heavens Adore Him”
* Prayer of Adoration
* Affirmation of Our Faith………………….The Canons of Dort, Point 5, Article 15
Leader: What do you believe of contrasting reactions to the teaching of perseverance?
All: This teaching about the perseverance of true believers and saints, and about their assurance of it1—a teaching which God has very richly revealed in the Word for the glory of his name and for the comfort of the godly, and which God impresses on the hearts of believers—is something which the flesh does not understand, Satan hates, the world ridicules, the ignorant and the hypocrites abuse, and the spirits of error attack. The bride of Christ, on the other hand, has always loved this teaching very tenderly and defended it steadfastly as a priceless treasure;2 and God, against whom no plan can avail and no strength can prevail,3 will ensure that the church will continue to do this. To this God alone, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be honor and glory forever.4 Amen.
Hymn of Trust (Insert)...... “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us”
Call to Confession........................................... Exodus 34:6-7
Leader: The LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.”
Corporate Prayer of Confession ...................... Psalm 39:7-11
All: And now, O Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in you. Deliver me from all my transgressions. Do not make me the scorn of the fool! I am mute; I do not open my mouth, for it is you who have done it. Remove your stroke from me; I am spent by the hostility of your hand. When you discipline a man with rebukes for sin, you consume like a moth what is dear to him; surely all mankind is a mere breath!
Silent Prayers of Confession
* Assurance of God’s Grace.............................. 1 John 4:9-10
Leader: In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
* Congregational Response #254... “Alas! and Did My Savior Bleed”
Sharing of Praises and Petitions
Prayer for the Church and the World
* Scripture Reading ............................................ 1 Peter 3:18
Sermon – Matt Marino “The Righteous for the Unrighteous”
The Big Idea: The work of Christ is final, particular, substitutionary, and brings us all the way home to God.
Prayer of Commitment
Table of Grace and Mercy
* Hymn of Praise #650.......... “I Will Sing of My Redeemer”
* Benediction
Following the benediction, let us greet and welcome one another as Christ has welcomed us, for the glory of God (Romans 15:7), remembering what our Lord teaches us in the Scriptures: “Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God” (1 Peter 1:22–23)
