Love, Joy, Peace...
Order of Worship
Welcome!
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2)

Eighth Sunday after Pentecost

Welcome & Announcements

* Call to Worship... Psalm 148:3-6

Leader: Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the LORD! For he commanded and they were created.

* Hymn of Praise #167... “When Morning Gilds the Skies”

* Prayer of Adoration

* Affirmation of Our Faith... The Canons of Dort, Points 3 & 4, Article 8

Leader: Christian, what do you believe of the earnest call of the gospel?

All: Nevertheless, all who are called through the gospel are called earnestly. (1) For urgently and most genuinely God makes known in the Word what is pleasing to him: that those who are called should come to God. (2) God also earnestly promises rest for their souls and eternal life to all who do come and believe. (3)

Hymn of Trust #648... “My Jesus, I Love Thee”

Call to Confession... 1 John 1:6-9

Leader: If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Corporate Prayer of Confession... Psalm 32:5

All: I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Silent Prayers of Confession

* Assurance of God’s Grace... Psalm 32:1-2

Leader: Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
